Peter Ponzol Aluminum M2 Model Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece. This model is precision machined from aluminum, hand-faced, and anodized for a matte gold color finish. The M2 Model is a bright, powerful and versatile mouthpiece with complexity and depth in the tone. The tone is brighter than the Vintage Model and not as bright as the M2 Plus Model. The aluminum models have a lighter and sweeter tone than the stainless models.
Peter Ponzol has always been concerned about mouthpiece materials and how safe they are for a player to put in their mouth. Most metal mouthpieces on the market are made of brass or bronze alloys. Because these alloys can have any number of various metals and materials in the metal, they may not be safe use unless properly plated. Chemicals used during the plating process are also not safe. As the plating wears on a mouthpiece, the player may be exposed to unsafe metals or metals they may be allergic to.
This model is made from aluminum and the surface is anodized. This is a similar material and process used on high-end cookware. It is a durable and lightweight mouthpiece.
Tip opening measures .110. Includes a Rovner Star Series ligature and cap.
