The Stainless Steel Alto features a medium-large chamber—slightly larger than a conventional medium chamber—paired with a moderately high shelf baffle. This combination provides excellent projection and response while allowing the sound to retain body, depth and tonal complexity.
Precision machined from solid stainless steel and individually hand faced, it offers a responsive, flexible feel with the projection needed to speak clearly in an ensemble.

The Ponzol Stainless Steel Alto is offered in a .085 tip opening, selected to complement the mouthpiece's high-baffle, medium-chamber design and its balance of response, projection and power.
Chamber & Baffle Design
The Ponzol Stainless Steel Alto uses a chamber and baffle combination that differs from many conventional alto mouthpieces. Its medium-large chamber is slightly larger than a typical medium chamber, helping provide body and depth in the sound.
The chamber is paired with a moderately high shelf baffle, providing the punch, projection and response associated with the Ponzol design. Together, the larger chamber and shelf baffle produce a moderately bright, powerful sound without sacrificing tonal depth and complexity.
Why Stainless Steel?
Ponzol stainless steel mouthpieces are precision machined from solid stainless steel rather than manufactured from a plated brass or bronze blank. Because stainless steel does not require plating, the playing surface remains the original material throughout the life of the mouthpiece.
Stainless steel is exceptionally durable, dimensionally stable and resistant to wear and corrosion. There is no plating to wear through or flake, allowing the mouthpiece to retain its original finish and playing surface for many years.
